Students from Mattei High School of Latisana in NY for a project at the United Nations

The National High School Model United Nations is one of the most prestigious and largest United Nations simulation events, aimed at high school students. It is an exceptional opportunity for young people interested in international politics and global issues. During NHSMUN in New York, students take on the roles of delegates from various countries and collaborate to address crucial issues of the contemporary world. The main goal of NHSMUN is to educate future leaders, offering them the opportunity to develop key skills such as research, negotiation, and communication. Students participate in various simulated committees covering a wide range of topics, from economics to international security, allowing them to deepen their understanding of global issues.

ISIS Mattei of Latisana took part in the project with a group of about 20 students, composed of both female and male students from the fourth and fifth classes and representing all the study programs present. This made the experience particularly stimulating, allowing students with very different backgrounds to work closely together to achieve common goals. The experience in New York, which took place from March 11th to 17th, was preceded by a challenging preparatory path carried out at school, with interventions, always in English, by internal and external experts on the themes of diplomacy and international law.

In addition to the work in the committees, in New York, the group from Latisana, accompanied by Headmistress Angela Napolitano and teachers Monica Zanella and Christian Tam, had the opportunity to meet the UN Ambassador of Albania (the country assigned to the students for the simulation) and to visit, as part of an institutional meeting with the Consul and Deputy Consul, the Italian Consulate in New York.
